Hello all, we are excited to announce several updates to Guild Rumbles based on player feedback.
- We are now going to show Match Making Rating (MMR) in most areas now, including on the match screen. We are also adding “MMR” text next to the rank to make it clear when you are looking at your guild’s MMR compared to Victory Points (VP) rank. The reason we are making this change is MMR is used for matching guilds, and it is a better indicator of how you matchup against the guild you are facing. We will share screenshots of this soon ™.
- We are tweaking VP scoring for lower ranked guilds so that they will earn more VP. Scoring balance was poor for lower ranked guilds. The change should greatly help new and low ranked guilds.
- We are making a minor change to MMR scoring to help reduce wild shifts in rankings. The intended goal is to minimize the amount of MMR lost when losing a rumble match to help keep guilds in an MMR range they belong in.
In order to properly test these changes, we are pushing the next Guild Rumble back a week to 4/19/2018. We are also building out several more checks to try and catch errors in matchmaking earlier, to prevent the type of bugs we experienced in the previous Rumble.
As part of this, we are going to change the timing of the matches so that the event starts at 14:00 GMT. This means new matches will now start at 9:00 AM CST and 9:00 PM CST. Additionally, matchmaking per round has been increased to 1 hour (previously, it was 30 minutes). This will allow us to perform manual checks for new matches.
Let us know if you have any additional feedback or questions!
