Hello Multiversers!
Combo Mastery is being updated to include 5 total levels of Mastery. The 2 new levels of mastery are being used to make the steps between CM2 and CM3 a bit more gradual and not going to increase the total cost it takes to fully master a combo.
Essentially – old CM1 remains CM1, old CM2 remains CM2, and old CM3 will become the new CM5. Players with existing CM3 for combos will have it converted/renamed to CM5 (no loss will occur). The 2 new levels will actually be the new CM3 and CM4.
We understand that the above verbiage may be a bit convoluted due to the nature of the changes. To help you fully decipher what we’re talking about please refer to the chart below that we hope might better visually represent the changes:

Some key details: 
CM3 will automatically be converted to CM5. CM1 & CM2 will stay the same (aside from research time lowering for CM2). Any active research for CM3 that is occurring at the time of transition will be automatically claimed to make sure it is converted to CM5 correctly. Once CM5 is reached and a combo is fully mastered the multiple silver crown icons will be changed to a single gold crown icon on the combo. The total number of tokens required to reach all equivalent mastery bonus levels (now CM1,CM2,CM5) remains the same.
